bio: Thaahum’s unique style makes him a much needed artist in the music industry. He describes his style as supraliminal hip hop-“supraliminal” meaning beyond the realm of consciousness, to induce a sensation. That is exactly what he does in his music. His
ability to smoothly put positive words to commercially appealing beats make him a
bridge between underground and mainstream hip hop.
Although only performing since 1999, the 27 year old father of two has advanced far as an independent artist. He has already received radio play all around the world, and his writing ability made him one of the recipients of the ASCAP Plus award four times in a row since 2003. In 2003 his talents where displayed at the “I Just Want to Have My Music Heard” showcase, sponsored by music1.com in Miami, Florida, and a workshop sponsored by band breakthrough.net, in Hollywood, CA. In 2003 he also participated in a talent showcase sponsored by superwebstars.com and won third place. His song Last Stance was one of the top five songs on the Clear Channel New Music Network in March 2003. From October 2006, to January 2007, he received BDS soundscan spins for his most recent single, Spreewells being on rotation on Music Choice.
The independent artist has opened for groups such as Ghostface Killa, Black Eyed Peas, D12, Cypress Hill, and Digital Underground. Thaahum was also featured on UK recording artist “Late” International Spittin’ LP on Wolftown Recordings. Besides emceeing, he’s also a freelance journalist and has his own column, “Keneteph’s Korner,” on Quickstopentertainment.com.
Currently he has a song featured in the upcoming DVD, The Dark Backward, released by Sony Home Entertainment. He will also have a song featured, in the upcoming Chasing Amy 10th Anniversary DVD, released by View Askew Productions, coming out in 2007. Most recently, he was asked to do a song for the upcoming film by Adam Rifkin, Homo Erectus, starring David Carradine, Tom Arnold, and Ali Larter from the TV show Heroes. A trailer made to the song he did can be seen on his myspace page (www.myspace.com/Keneteph). On his upcoming CD, he has a song (Brand New Me) produced by multi-platinum producer D-Maq, who has done tracks for 2Pac, and produced three tracks on Ice Cube’s current CD.
