What is Ad Revenue Sharing?

Basically, when someone clicks on an ad while on a page with your content (profile, song, gig, blog, etc.), you will receive a percentage of what is earned on that click.

How do I set it up?

It's a lot easier than you might think. First, you need to sign up for a free Google AdSense account. Then, activate Ad Revenue Sharing from your profile by entering your Google AdSense ID. That’s it; you’re all set to go!

Now, if you want to share revenue from other artists, you need to invite a friend and have them set up Ad Revenue Sharing on their account.

Confused yet? Here's an example.

What percentage of revenue do I get?

How does 80 percent sound? Yes, that’s right. Every time someone clicks on an ad you get 80% and indiradio gets the remaining 20%.

It gets even better. When you refer a friend to indiradio and they also activate Ad Revenue Sharing, you get a piece of the pie, too! Don’t worry, they still get their 80%. You’ll also get 10% of every click on their content that we would normally get.

How much money is this really going to make?

Well, for argument’s sake, assume that you receive 20 cents for every ad click on your content pages and that people click on average 5 times a week. That adds up to about 4 dollars per month.

Let’s also assume you’ve invited 3 artists on indiradio. This means you receive about 3 cents per click, per artist. We will also assume that for each artist people click an average of 5 times a week. Now that should amount to about 1.8 dollars a month.

In total, that would equal about $6.80 per month.

Why should I get excited about earning barely enough for three lattes?

More important than what you'll make at the beginning is the potential for how much you can make from this. Assume that your audience increases and you’re getting 10 clicks per week and invited 6 artists. Based on this scenario, you will get about $15 per month. This can become even more as indiradio gets more popular. Besides, you certainly can't lose money by signing up for this. Do you know of any other music web site that pays you just for using it? You can potentially make some money in addition to getting great publicity and bringing in a wider audience.

So what's the catch?

The only "catch" is that you may end up not making any money, but since it doesn't cost you anything to sign up, you're not really losing anything either. Other than that, there is no downside to this.

What's the benefit to indiradio?

It's simple. By you promoting your own content to earn more money, we get more visitors to the site. Plus, we get bonuses from Google if someone we referred earns a certain amount of revenue. Essentially, everybody wins. Besides, we're doing this for you, the independent artists. You help us as much as we help you.

What can I do to make more money from this?

Promote your indiradio!

The more exposure your pages receive, the greater the chance you will get more clicks on ads.

Invite your fellow musicians and friends! Remember, the more people you invite, the more you can make.
